About the Girit Yellow Turkish Towel — Sizes, Uses & Care ▾
Wide bands of warm golden yellow on cream cotton and linen, with hand-knotted fringe in both tones. It is the sunniest towel we weave — the one that makes a white bathroom look deliberate rather than unfinished, and the one you can spot on a busy beach.
Why a peshtemal instead of a terry towel
- Dries much faster. A flat weave holds far less water than looped terry, so it airs out between uses instead of staying damp.
- Packs flat. About a quarter of the bulk of a terry bath sheet — easy to carry two instead of one.
- Sand shakes straight off. No pile for grit to bury itself in.
- Softens with washing. Linen breaks in rather than wearing thin, and the weave opens up to absorb more.
Two sizes
- Bath/Beach 37'' x 73'' — a full bath sheet, long enough for a sun lounger.
- Hand/Hair 23'' x 30'' — bathroom rail, kitchen, gym bag, or a hair wrap.
Care
Wash before first use to set the weave. Cool wash, tumble dry low, no bleach and no fabric softener. Wash with like colours for the first couple of cycles so the yellow stays clean against the cream ground.
