About the Girit Burgundy Turkish Towel — Sizes, Uses & Care ▾
Wide rust-orange stripes on a cream cotton–linen ground, with fringe hand-knotted in both tones. A warm terracotta shade that sits naturally against stone, timber and sand — the reason it works as easily on a beach as on a bathroom rail.
Why a peshtemal instead of a terry towel
- Dries far faster. A flat weave carries much less water than looped terry, so it is dry again between uses.
- Folds flat. Around a quarter of the bulk of a terry bath sheet — it disappears into a beach bag or hand luggage.
- Sand does not cling. No pile means grit brushes straight off.
- Softens with use. Linen breaks in rather than wearing out, and the weave opens up to absorb more.
Two sizes
- Bath/Beach 37'' x 73'' — a full bath sheet for one adult, long enough for a sun lounger.
- Hand/Hair 23'' x 30'' — bathroom rail, kitchen, gym bag, or wrapped around wet hair.
Care
Wash before first use to set the weave. Cool wash, tumble dry low, no bleach and no fabric softener. Wash with like colours for the first two or three cycles so the rust stays saturated against the cream.
