About the Girit Blue Robe — Fit, Fabric & Care ▾
A peshtemal robe rather than a bathrobe: cut from the same flat-woven cotton–linen we use for our towels, in a blue ground crossed by a fine multicolour stripe. Half the weight of terry, and it does not hold water the way towelling does — which is the whole reason people switch and never go back.
Why a peshtemal robe instead of terry
- It is not heavy when wet. A terry robe soaks up water and hangs on the shoulders; this one dries you and stays light.
- Dry again by the next shower. Flat weave means it airs out on the hook instead of staying damp all day.
- Packs into hand luggage. Folds flat enough to take on a trip without giving up half a case — the reason it ends up in hammam bags, hotel rooms and beach houses.
- Year-round. The cotton–linen blend breathes in summer heat but still covers you after a bath in winter.
Fit
Cut unisex and relaxed, with a generous wrap, two front pockets and a tie belt. Sizes run S/M to XXL — measurements above are the garment, not the body, so allow for the overlap when you wrap it. If you are between sizes or want a longer, looser fit, size up.
Care
Cold wash only, hang dry. No bleach and no fabric softener — softener coats cotton and linen and reduces absorbency. Wash with like colours for the first couple of cycles. It softens with every wash rather than wearing thin.
