Ahlat Cotton Linen Towel

A cotton–linen peshtemal woven flat and finished with hand-knotted fringe. The Ahlat is the quiet one in the range: an off-white ground with a fine charcoal pinstripe, so there is no strong pattern to work around. It is the towel that suits a bathroom you do not want to redecorate around a towel.

What a peshtemal does better

• Dries fast. A flat weave holds less water, so it is dry again before the next shower rather than damp all day.
• Takes up almost no space. A folded peshtemal is a fraction of a terry towel's bulk — a real difference in small linen cupboards and packed suitcases.
• Improves with use. Linen softens as it breaks in, and the weave opens up to absorb more with each wash.
• Works past the bathroom. Beach blanket, picnic throw, sofa cover, hair wrap.

Two sizes

• Bath/Beach 37'' x 73'' — a full bath sheet, and long enough for a sun lounger.
• Hand/Hair 23'' x 30'' — bathroom rail, kitchen, or wrapped around wet hair.

Care

Wash before first use to set the weave. Cool wash, tumble dry low, no bleach and no fabric softener — softener coats the fibres and reduces absorbency. Shake the fringe while damp so it dries straight.
